Full Review

Coming from the people who brought us the hugely successful original Keeley compressor, it makes perfect sense for Keeley to address one of the few negatives levelled at the prototype in the follow-up. As a result, an extra two dials have been added for more control – one for ‘attack’ and one labelled ‘clipping’ to control input gain.

Thankfully, the smooth, full, low noise sound of the original remains intact with the new Keeley compressor. All that’s been added is more functionality, particularly in the studio environment, where, as most users will tell you, is where the Keeley Compressor performs best.

Unlike inferior pedals, the ‘sustain’ knob can be turned all the way to ‘10’ with addition of little or no noise, thanks to the superior build of the components. Furthermore, the ‘attack’ knob on high adds a delay type of feel to the sound, which will appeal to country players. ‘Sustain’ does exactly that, but without the noise you might expect – even at full.

Up until now, the Keeley Compressor was the musician’s weapon of choice in the studio but using the ‘clipping’ knob on high has its advantages in a live setting too, especially for clean settings.

The 4 knob Keeley Compressor comes with all the clarity, tone and same audiophile quality you’ve come to expect from Keeley, simply now, it has more tweakability.
